Prof. Gallo receives the Catalysis Researcher Award

The Board of Directors of SBCat is pleased to announce Prof. Dr Jean Marcel R. Gallo as winner of the "Researcher in Catalysis 2017" Award.

The award includes the researcher under 40 years of age and who presented, in the last two years, one of the best contributions for the development of catalysis in our country and dissemination of Brazil in the international scenario.

Prof. Jean is Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry of the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) since 2014, where he leads the Group of Renewable Energy, Nanotechnology and Catalysis (GreenCat). He was born in São Paulo, grew up in Campinas and studied Chemistry at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), where he also obtained a Masters in Chemistry under the guidance of Prof. Ulf Schuchardt. His doctoral degree in Sciences was obtained in a co-tuition program between UNICAMP and the University of the Eastern Piedmonte Amedeo Avogadro in Alessandria (Italy), under the guidance of Profª. Heloise O. Pastore and Prof. Leonardo Marchese. The Prof. Jean was also Associate Researcher in the group of Prof. James A. Dumesic in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA) between 2010 and 2013, and was postdoctoral in the group of Prof. José Maria C. Bueno at the Department of Chemical Engineering at UFSCar.
