The Group of Renewable Energy, Nanotechnology and Catalysis (GreenCat), led by Prof. Jean Marcel R. Gallo, has been established in the Department of Chemistry at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) in August 2014. The group research interests lie in the design of heterogeneous catalysts for the application in the biomass conversion. The emphasis of the group is controlling the catalyst site types at an atomic level, as well as the structure at the nanometric scale aiming tackling relevant problems associated to the refinery and the biorefinery.
